A couple of years ago i started using start.me. The website is a portal where you canb store links to other websites. I liked the site because it stores it when i reinstall my laptop or when working at my work laptop.
Eventually they changed their free tier. Don’t get me wrong, it is their right to change their usage license when it’s free (maybe you think different about this, but i don’t have an issue with it).
The issue have with it that i got a message that the amount of pages should be go back from the 8 that i had, back to 4. That would (if i would keep all the links) a lot of info on less pages, which would be an overload. The other issue was that you can have hidden pages, for links that not everybody needs to see (links to local pages, links to work pages, maybe NSFW stuff 😜 )
Best way to go is to go for a self hosted solution. I could have gone for a docker application, but is can’t get my head around them. The quarter just doesn’t drop about how it works.
Eventually tried doing it using Visual Studio Code in combination with Copilot. After a couple of evenings of “coding” i got a version that did what i wanted. It doesn’t have all the features that Start.me has, but the things i added were the things i needed
